    Hi All,

I'm about to make a sail and rail booking for myself, my wife, and the two kids aged 8 & 10 to come back from manchester to dublin as foot passengers on the August bank holiday.

Reason being we are going to Jersey/Channel Islands for a week and the flights are 300eur E/way four the four of us.

SO i thought we could make more use of the return cash and fly to UK for a few days.

So we got the four flights to Manchester from Jersey for 80gbp wi FLYBE and then the Premier Inn hotels are doing a great 29gbp per room rate so we got a family room for the four of us cost 29gbp x 6 nights and for breakfast at 7.95gbp kids eat free. So total cost for Flights/Accomodation/Breakfast is 350gbp.......and the plan is do a few theme parks.

    Anyway....back to Sail and Rail.

    The prices are as follows

    Irishferries - 2 x Adult & 2 x Child £ 86.00 & CC charge

    Stenaline - 2 x Adult & 2 x Child £ 87.00 & CC charge

But which ferry would you choose ie which boat is nicer....and do you think the kids would enjoy more

The Irish Ferry is nicer, but there isn't too much in it to be honest and I prefer the Stena ferry because it has a nicer outside area.

The Stena ferry also comes with a bus to Connolly as well which for me is a clincher.

I'm going to knocklyon so it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other bus wise as the dun laoire option includes transport to City Centre (I assume Connolly Station)

    Thanks for replying

if its the ordinary stenaline not the hss then the irishferries boat Ulysses is much nicer, its nicer than the hss too but the hss is quicker, there is a cinema on the ulysses which passes the time

I just tried booking irishferries online and it looks like you cant. Looks like a phone only job and there's probably an admin charge for that.....

I'm flying to London tomorrow and hoping to get sail rail coming back on Monday. Can I buy a ticket directly In London Euston train station?

Thanks a mill Lapin. got it fine, you were right!

God back to dub on Monday so missed the riots thankfully!

Just a heads up for anyone buying a sail rail ticket from London Euston station if you opt for the cruise ferry then it only costs 33 pound as apposed to 38 pound if you take the fast ferry. Plus with the cruise ferry option the train goes direct to holyhead with no stops whereas the fast ferry option involves changing trains along the route, in chester i think.

Fast Ferry: Train leaves Euston 7:10am ferrry 12 pm arrive dub 13:49
Cruise Ferry: Train leaves Euston 9:10 am ferry 14:10 arrive dub 17:25

As far as I know when your booking a sail rail ticket with Irish ferries you can only take the fast ferry but might be wrong there!
