First off this is not about Teachers being good, bad or mad.

Apparently teachers as well as teaching should be able to solve complex social problem, provide counselling, prevent abuse and so on.

Dose anyone else this this is ridicules.

Yet you constantly see comment when something happens that say why didn't the teachers/school do something....well why didn't anyone else do something?

That's why all schools have a counsellor on site.

You only have to look at our politicians to see that they should stick to teaching and stay the hell away from politics.
People still think that teachers are a hell of a lot smarter than they are so they assume they should be good at everything which is a bit unfair when you think of it.
And I wouldn't class teachers as being smarter...as smart maybe but like all professions there's some dumb ones as well.

Obviously teachers should be able to sort out psycopaths who go over the edge and go on a shooting spree around schools....and by teachers I mean SWAT teams

You don't have to be smart to repeat the same stuff over and over again for years on end.

    I am not a Teacher.

All schools ( post primary) have a teacher qualified in career guidance and counselling they are still teachers and not clinical trained to deal with very complex social problems. That is not available in primary schools.

The primary job of a teacher is to teach children and I am puzzled at how society some how think it is part of the school/teachers job to do something most of them are't trained to do.

Or if you are you a young person considering teaching as a careers remember as well as teaching you will be expected.

To prevent teenagers doing harm to themselves( your maybe only a French teacher but you should have done something )

Prevent abuse ( how exactly you were suppose to prevent it is never made clear but you should have done something)

It will also be you fault that people from certain backgrounds don't go to college. ( because of your bad teaching ..nothing to do with the individual motivation, social expectations ect ).

It will also be your fault that some people have poor English because you are a bad teacher (nothing to do with dyslexia which I have, or technology, or changes in the use of language ).

    Bull**** thread

There primary role is to teach, that doesn't (shouldn't) mean that is their only function (but those functions will need more wages)
