Just been on oddschecker and seen that Boylesports are paying 8 Places on the Open and are top price on the top three McIlroy, Westwood and Donald.

Time to do my homework!

Westwood win at 9 (meant to back him at 11 but had to go to work this morning then he played a blinder in Scotland - fml!). Due a major win, playing well and came 2nd last year so hopefully he can go one better this year. He is as consistent as they come so I'll get my moneys worth anyway.

Goosen at 45/1 each way, does well at the Open and seems to thrive on links

Layed McIlroy at 7 on betfair, he might win it but he's far too short so I'm laying him solely for that reason.

Was saying this on Twitter yesterday afternoon, and now just saw the leaderboard at the John Deere. He might have a bad a 3 final rounds but anyway this was based of oldie pick I usually have + the fact he did so well at the 2003 Open on the same course.

Open Championship - Quick tip for those that aren't aware - Wind / weather is likely to play a big part this week and if anything like last year where 1 half of the draw/field was virtually eliminated by the fierce winds , there is great value in backing the huge odds available on Betfair for trading. Oosthuizen was backed at 400 and upwards last year on B/f and traded @ 2.0 after 3 rounds and of course went on to win. There are numerous players who you wouldn't be surprised to see lift the trophy at odds of 300 and above. 2 standout Americans at those prices are Ryan Palmer and Bill Haas. Simon Dyson, a brilliant links player is currently being offered @ 300 and will no doubt drift out further. Anders Hansen could be this year's Louis!

I don't like to put people off their selections as anything can happen in golf but I'll just give you the reason why they're so big.

Fuyrk has undergone swing changes this year after being the best player on the PGA Tour last year (seems to be the latest trend) and has played some of the worst golf of his life this year. Bubba Watson is not the type of player who likes being away from his home as he demonstrated in France a few weeks back. I got the impression he actually wanted to miss the cut so he could go home and can see him easily losing interest and patience in the British Open if things don't start well.

Fisher is definitely 1 to watch for me. Showing signs of a return to form and plays well in the wind and on links courses. Probably have a look at him in round 1 and decide.

I'll be looking for a good match bet against Watson and decent odds for him to miss the cut.

I think you can't go wrong backing the likes of Bjorn with a small bet at a price like that. Free rolling, mentally strong, experienced bad weather player and already a winner this year. And as mentioned, if he gets the right side of the draw, those odds will look even bigger.

I have seen weather reports suggesting that the afternnon starters will have the best of it thursday so Id wait untill wed night and then make a pick for first round leader, but all things been equal and no draqw advantage, 12/1 for a guy who has lead 5 out of 6 after first round would be a steal, but as I sadi im holding off till wednesday night to see what way the weather is shaping up.

any opinions on his starting price..i think he may well trade higher come thursday morning so may well hold until 2mora evening and see..

weather forecast is brutal for ireland on friday..so ill get three days to see it..gutted i wont see thursday though:(

I think they are decent bets..Maybe I would have put money on Day ew rather then just Top 5 but otherwise I dont see why you cant win.

Have put few quid on Rory on BF not been matched yet as hope to get him just under 9's. He more value now then when he was 6's

Thats why I think I will play in the first round leader market if its to be worse weather in the morning then evening... Best to wait till tomorrow night before do these bets although like 2 of Value seekers choices.

yeah i know where your coming from Kew..ive never played in the first round leader market before..tbh i dont play in any of the markets only the winner market on betfair(why i dont really know)..

if the weather is going to be good for rorys tee-time i think ill get on him..any sort of decent start by him and his price will drop rapid.

Small win bets on davis @300,woodland@330 and [EMAIL="olesen@390"]olesen@390[/EMAIL] and will be laying them to make a profit if they perform in early rounds.I normally only lay but this is the open and there will be plenty opportunities in running.I considered laying Mc Ilroy for a substantial amount but the quality of his golf 3 weeks ago was simply amazing and if he turns up in similiar form on thur he will win,he is on the drift now and his price is becoming more realistic but for me i will neither support nor oppose him until he has shown what kind of form he is in.

Not sure about Jason Day, he has a good record in recent majors, but links golf is a different story. Only finish T60 last year in St. Andrews which is not as 'links'ey' as Sandwich. I think playing last week in the John Deere won't do him any favours.
