Is it true that registration fees have gone up from 1500 to 2000 for this year??

I'm afraid so - these have risen and risen since the so-called 'abolition' of university fees in the mid 1990s. I remember when they were something like €160 for UCC just over 10 yrs ago, which wasn't so bad. €2000 is the rate for 2011/2012. Alot of money to have to come up with. However, if you qualify for maintenance grant you wont have to pay it, as it's covered in it.

What's to stop it going even higher in the next budget ?! Reintroducing fees through the back door, simple as, IMHO.:(
