Been thinking about this today. Have a couple of empty six pound drums at home. Seems a shame to throw them out. Anyone ever found anything usefull to do with them? Read through similar thread on t-nation, which was a complete waste of time.

Depending on the size of them i fill them with other things! I have a 2.5kg tub that i keep filled with Dextrose sugar and a couple of 1kg tubs that i keep my creatine and L-Glutamine in etc as they usually all come in bags and find it handyer to scoop out of the tubs instead:)

Old creatine tubs are the business when it comes to chalk storage. Big enough to get your hands in but not so massive that it's taking up your entire bag.

I keep the old ones when I buy any powders that come in bulk in those massive plastic bags. Then refill the smaller tubs as I go, which keeps mess down. The corner of my kitchen used to resemble the worktop counter of a cloumbian drug lord...

I have porridge oats in mine, and another with oat flour (liquidised porridge oats) I also have one with loads of packs of spices in it.

I have bigger 15L ones that I am going to brew beer in, though 25L is an ideal size for brewing.

Just thought you could fill them with cement and make a kettlebell or have a rope hanging out, and sure enough first hit on google images!

One Pood Kettlebell -- finally, a use for all those empty whey protein containers! Paint courtesy of my 3- and 5-year-old sons. This works really well, and I can't think of any way to make it better. That's 1/2 inch rebar I bent to fit, with a piece of 1 inch EMT over it and pipe insulation over that and then wrapped in duct tape for the handle. The rebar goes about halfway to the bottom of the cement-filled plastic container.

More like it. Might have a go at something similar.

If you had no rope you could use a towel, the trick would be to tie a knot in it which goes in the container so it makes an anchor in the concrete and will not slip out. If you went to a scrap yard you might be able to get a load of reject nuts & bolts, it could be filled with these and then cement thrown in on top, to maximise the weight in that volume.

The ones i get from bulkpowders hold about 15 litres of liquid so they make ideal fermentors for turbo cider/pineapple cider etc.

They also make good beer coolers when you fill them with ice!

Bit pricey isn't it? Bought this stuff today 5lbs for €35, retail like. Last time 6lbs of something for €35 also retail.
