I am a self builder going direct labour. I have got public liability insurance and all that, i am trying to do it all by the book...!!
Now I'm sure I have to put up certain safety signage on my site, basic stuff like hard hat required and all that.
Anyone know where I can find a list of the required signage?

Thats a bit more complicated than I thought. Looks like you have to decide for yourself what is required on-site via a safety statement.
Anyone got any advise on how to proceed? Has anyone done this before?

    Hi Brendan

You're public liability insurance will only be needed if something goes wrong, if something goes wrong the first thing HSA will need is your safety statement...

Grab yellow pages or ask for a recommendation for safety companies, ring 3 or 4 and tell them what you are doing, get quotes for safety statements and possibly method statements, they will tell you other stuff you need like copies of all subbies insurance and their safety statements, it could be worth your while retaining a safety officer to spot check the site on your behalf, it's not as expensive as it sounds and could save you a world of hurt.

Signs can be printed on corrigated board and are very cheap, you just need to know which ones to use!

Thank you. I have contacted a local company and they are great, told me everything I need to do and they will stand over the site for me, basically act as the saftey officer. And its pretty cheap too.
