Very long Shot - Lost Morris Minor

There's a lad in work who has an absolute fanatical desire to rediscover his Dad's Morris Minor. When I say fanatical, I mean 10 years of searching and travelling the lenght and breadth of the country chasing up leads. Since he's an older lad and doesn't understand the Net (he has an ad running in The Herald instead) that well I promised to throw this up in the hope that something might miraclously happen.

It's a mid-50s, split screen black Morris Minor, with the reg NRI 38. One of his leads reported seeing it abandoned near Newbridge, Kildare with the floor rotten and gone but the car was moved before he could be certain. And this was a year ago.

He's already gone through all old vehicle registration routes and talked to previous owners - so by now it's probably rusting in a shed, at the bottom of a Quarry or in a ditch. So if anyone happens to be hedge cutting, scuba diving in a quarry or own a shed they haven't looked in a while just keep your eyes open.

Cars get scrapped, so the chances of finding it will probably be less than winning Euromillions.

Unless he has proof of the car existing in the last 10-20 years, I wouldn't bother wasting my time if I was him.

Tell him to put an ad in Irish Vintage Scene for a few issues and to contact the Irish Morris Minor Owners club. He could also put up ads in adverts.ie, donedeal.ie, gumtree.ie and the like. He must have a relative who can help him a bit on the net, the more people who are out looking for it the better, if he has been searching for 10 years I hope he finds it.

Just asking around work and it turns out the 'lead' on the car being seen near Newbridge is from a well known wind up merchant and all round messer. It's just our Lad's obsession that has him convinced it's a real lead. Genuinely looks like this a goner but he refuses to give in. It's been 15 years since he started his search:o
