Does anyone know where I can get a full text version of this online.

I've found one before but can't remember where now.

It's a bit of a joke that this isn't readily available considering its law in Ireland, and very frequently used too.

I'm sure I managed to get it from British website before, as I said I can't remember where now though. If a British website is the only online source of current Irish law, then well frankly, in my opinion, someone is having a laugh, and not doing their job properly.

Thank you for your reply Rory Murphy, but that is not what I'm looking for, that is just an adaptation order made in 1938.

There is an annotated version in westlaw.ie

Legislation.gov.uk has some pre-independence legislation relating to Ireland on it. Unfortunately the Petty Sessions (Ireland) Act 1851 doesn't appear to be on it at present.

The caveat is that the Irish legislation on it would be in the form that it is currently in force in Northern Ireland which may not necessarily be the same as in the Republic.

The modern NI legislation would be the Magistrates' Courts (NI) Order 1981 but the version on that site doesn't seem to say whether the 1851 Act is still in force in the North? The repeals section appears to be ommited from the online version.

Westlaw would be your best bet, you could get the consolidated one there, Justis would have it too in its original form with amendments separate I'd say.

O'Connors Justice of the Peace was the original magistrates' bible- still con sulted and as far as I remember contains many of the sections of the PSA whcih were still law in about 1910.

Thanks for the replies all, I got it now. In my opinion this should really be freely available on a Government website, it being statutory law in force in the State.
