Community Welfare Office Emergency Payment - Does it get Backdated?

I am on long term unpaid medical leave and I was handing in my certs to the Social Welfare Office as I was supposed to. Then after a month (and me being told twice that my payment should come soon) I got a letter saying I did not have enough contributions to get an illness benefit and to see my Community Welfare Officer, so I went to them and got everything sorted but the CWO threw me out of the office so fast that I never got to ask if the payments will be backdated to when I originally lodged the claim with the SWO. Does anyone know?

honestly i'm not sure but I think the CWO only pays from when you claim from them and not your original SW payment.
