Signs that you will homeless in future?

Anybody have any idea how the lives of people who end up homeless go? I have this fear that I am going to end up on streets. It is due to my persistent apathy and laziness. I genuinely don't see how anything like a normal life could accommodate me, and yet I lack the talent or distinctive abilities required to elevate oneself above that. Are homeless people those folks who just don't find a niche for themselves in day to day life, or is there a whole different set of criteria which sets them on their path towards homelessness?

Well they don't have a house for starters.

Its generally the lack of a home or house to stay in.

So if you've no way to get a house and pay for it or the ability to scrounge on off the tax payer You might end up being homeless

When your born the doctor takes you away and smells your feet, if their smelly he marks it and the government will ensure you don't succeed.
Automatically enrol you in school with paedophile teachers, ensure women reject you, place mikes in your room until you go crazy, you know all the stuff you read in the conspiracy theory forum.

You jest, but the point you raise is a salient one. Life has given me just about every opportunity one needs to, at worst get by, at best greatly succeed. If I had been born with drug addict parents, idiot peers and debts left right and centre then I think it would be understandable that I find myself considering homelessness as a possible future, but no. I can look high and low, and the only reason I can find for my position is myself. With genuine honesty I can say I don't know where I am going to go from here.

I guess the three most repeated characteristics seem to be (i) severe family problems (ii) mental health problems or (iii) addictions.

While income and job security, as well as a possibly easily led. or 'floater' mentality can aggravate the pre-disposition, I think it would be quite wrong to portray these latter issues as being overly significant.

Homeless people should watch a load of Ray Mear and Bear Grillis and that kind of thing (I'm sure they have tvs in shelters and the like), and then move to the countryside, where they could be self-sufficent and have a far better quality of life. Problem solved.

I assume you're joking, but I must say I did think to myself recently (because I started watching Bear Grylls) that if I were totally out of money somewhere, a city would surely be the worst place to go

I suppose the first sign is bad grammar. It's all downhill from there.

Why is the quote attributed to me??

It was your title. Which you probably typed, or am I missing something?

Ok just noticed now, I fail at making Deus Ex Machina look foolish. Oh sweet irony..

I think that ^^ might be your problem there.

I don't get it. If you know what your 'blockage' is then why do you leave it in place?

Talking to a mate in Dublin who's a cop and he says most of the guys were people with good jobs etc that had drink/drug problems and they lost everything...others were guys who's marriages broke up etc and they were again left with nothing...the younger ones are often the victims of sexual abuse at home etc
You always think to yourself "how the fúck do you become homeless or get that bad" and when you hear the stories behind you think how easy it actually happens and pray that nothing like that happens to you or anyone you know.

    OP,

If you are really at the location you have set you might end up homeless but at least you ll have a fancy name for it.
    Clochard sounds so much better.

[irony]Homeless should logon to AH. Then they'd know how lucky they are to get the dole in this country and realise there's simply loads of council houses lying empty that lazy b*stards on the dole won't take off the council.
If that doesn't work they can just read the Pamela Izewhathername thread and decide to paint themselves black. [/irony]

In Ireland the majority of homeless people have "problems" that led them with little hope. Many are addicts of some degree which led them to the streets. What may have caused the reliance on substances is normally quite horrific too.

Being lazy and not knowing what to do is not really what gets people homeless. People complain about this country but the family support structures and social services are actually something people should be proud of.
