I would just like to bring it to peoples attention that DIT are running a course
this year in flight operations on a part time basis. it appears they will only run the course if they get enough interest. So if anyone is looking to get into the aviation industry this is a great opportunity to do so.
this course is due to commence in september.

Isn't employment in aviation, particularly in Ops a requirement for that course?

Yeah it is I think, as DIT has a few other courses in aviation sector...and all of them required some sort of experience in aviation industry.

I dont have employment in the aviation industry, I made the college aware of this. I was then contacted by the guy running the course and he informed me it is not a requirement to have employment in the industry to sit this course.
But looking at the course content I can understand why.

It's good that you don't neccessarily have to be already working in aviation. But you will be at a slight disadvantage. Large parts of the course are very similar to that covered by in the pilot exams. So any pilot will already have covered most of it.

I did the course many years ago and there were a mix of guys & girls, with and without aviation experience.
It is a great course and really gives you a good knowledge base for an operations position in either a handling agent or airline.
