    Hi all,

firstly, this may be better in the fitness section, so please advise if so :)

Ok, so I'm a big gal (15 st 3 lb, size 18-20) i'm on a diet (weightwatchers) and combining it with fitness, mainly circuit training. Its definitely working, as i've lost 7lb in the past 3 weeks, and i'm quite focused on it, so theres no plan on stopping.

But want i'm really looking to find out is when will i see a difference...? I'm not going to kid myself, i know it'll take a while to drop clothes sizes, but have any of you ladies, been on a similar path, and when did you really start to see a difference?

Havent you already seen a difference ? The bigger you are the longer the time to lose it.Gradual weight loss is better as its more likely to stay off.
Stay away from fad diets.Drink a lot of water ,try cut down on booze and try eat the right foods.Everyones body is different though you , you might need a tailored diet.Go to a dietician.

Just take regular photos of yourself and you'll see the difference. It's a good way of maintaining your motivation too. :)

@ newbie22, thanks, thats interesting after 1 1/2 stone, my first goal weight is to get to 14st, so from my start weight the loss its just over that.

@eternal, i'm afraid after 7lb no difference seen, 7lb off 15.9 is a drop in the ocean tbh! I do feel great though thats the big difference, more energy and less sluggish. My plan is gradual, slowly, slowly catchy monkey! 2 lb is the weekly, goal anything more is just a plus

I've now lost over 4stone and everyone notices now, getting sick of people saying it to me but it's a good complaint to have I suppose!

Moved from tLL to Health and Fitness.

My own experience: Started out at a similar size to the OP (around 15 stone, size 18-20). Really started to notice a difference visually after about a month or so, when I'd dropped about 11lbs and my clothes were starting to loosen. Was down a full dress size after a couple of months, down 2 dress sizes another 3 months later, and finally down to a size 12 about a year after I started. You'll notice lots of little milestones along the way - dropping under 15, dropping under 14 etc, going from "obese" to "overweight" and later to "normal" on the BMI scale, pushing yourself further in training... do what you have to do to keep yourself motivated. :)

As Rainbow mentioned it's a great motivator when you check your BMI!! Keeps you going when you see the numbers dropping!

I think measuring yourself is a great motivation to keep going! I'm on ww as well and sometimes I'll sts on WI but I'll see a loss of my waist or my hips.

It's a fantastic way to keep you going as you know there's a difference even if it isn't showing on the scales :D

I echo the suggestions of doing measurements and photos.
I first noticed the difference after losing 10lbs (my heaviest weight was 12st 8.5lbs). Big difference in the photos from the 3rd month on.

Just a guys perspective - in 2005 I was touching over 16 stone when i left school and tbh, it actually wasn't until i started Uni in sept that I really noticed, i was wearing new clothes, waist was couple inches down and people had been saying it, but my mind hadn't caught up with the change my body went through. It wont be long until clothes are looser and people start commenting, bear in mind though it might take time for your 'eyes' to catch up with your body,

i'd say the one thing you need to do is be patient!!!, i know how it feels......checking here...checking there...weighing ever second morning.....you can drive yourself demented if you look for changes regularly....2 years ago i was just over 21 stone...im now..kinda/sort of approaching 13 and a half:rolleyes:..ok 13,10...but its getting there!! so be patient with yourself...you didnt put it on instantly so it sure aint coming off instantly....solid diet..workouts....sleep and patience.....trust me!!:D
