Does anyone know why RTE are really pushing DAB/online radio stations ATM but are not saying that all "Digital" radio channels are on Saorview compatible STB/TV's (and even an awful lot of incomapatible TV's :D)?

BBC tend to do the same - rarely do they say their digital radio stations are available on Freeview yet I guess far more people listen to them on Freeview than on DAB.

Maybe they don't want to confuse people with the concept of Radio on the Television (maybe people will expect something a la Moring Ireland on News Now.)

I think it is much more serious than that. RTE and RTE NL appear to have different views on a number of issues.

There appears to be a difference of emphassis and a lack of forward planning which has been brought to a head with (part time) Minister Carey's low ball decision to insist on RTE 2 HD being on mux 2, and no adverising on RTE NN, and the provision of RTE 1+1 instead of RTE 3.

This has meant the RTE NL must bring forward mux 2 launch so that RTE can show the GAA in HD. It has meant a freezing of RTE NN development as no advertising revenue, and blank screens on the RTE Jr and RTE 1+1 due to rights issues. No extra advertising on this channel means no extra cash to pay for extra rights. It has all gone pear shaped for them.

I would have thought Minister Rabbitte would have taken some action by now, having launched the service with such gusto.

When will Saorview become THE service, and analogue become a legacy service? In other words, when will RTE treat the Saorview service as the only service they offer, with analogue in run-down mode? There is no mention of this, everyone appears to assume this will not happen until they switch off the analogue on the 30th/31st of Ovcnember 2012.

On another point, why does The Irish Time's progamme listings only show Sky and UPC channels and not Freesat channlels. ITTV2,3,4 have been dropped following TV3's success in getting them removed from UPC's line up. I presume this applies to other published listings. [I do not read the Indo on principle].

Have they any more disappointments for us?
