I don't know if this is the right place. However I've a feeling something like this will please a few enthusiasts.

Woke up at 6 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. Quite a poor sleeper anyway and often would be up quite late.

Went for a cycle at half 6 out to the beach, sat on the wall for a while, called into my uncles and then went and got 7 oranges in Tesco.

Just back in the door now and I'm hooked. Hope to make it a daily thing. Always cycle when I'm on holiday but i figured while were getting the good weather i might as well get ready for France.

Well done. My son has swim training 5 mornings a week, so I bring my bike to the pool and off I go, usually starting by 5.45. It's usually a lot quieter, traffic wise, and a lot cooler (you picked a lovely morning to start). It's amusing to come up Tinker's Hill at 7 in the morning, knowing you've got your session done before most of the city wakes up.

    :)

Well done for getting out - keep it up! If you only bought 6 oranges you would have got them cheaper as part of a multipack

Rang my dad at around half 7 he was crossing the border from Belgium to France he is an early riser too. Everyone still asleep right now!

7 was an estimate count, it's the big oranges bag from Tesco where you get extra :D

Surreal cycling out there so early with no cars on the road, one iPod earphone in and only meeting other cyclists or dog walkers.

That is a lovely story, you've inspired me. What a lovely morning and place for you to do the cycle. I had been thinking again seriously about starting to cycle again, when I came across this post.

Well done, and on the oranges too!

Ha ha...I just started cycling to work last week. Its about 5 miles each way and I love it. I cant believe its taken me this long to do it. However it looks like i might be back on the bus tomorrow if those weather charts are anything to go by

This is great, I'm entering my first(off-road) race next Sunday and I much prefer dry ground. This doesn't look good for it :(

Just do it. Especially in the summer, you realise how quickly a little rain is nothing to freak out over. Once you get wet, you can't get wetter.

You might also surprise yourself as to how energising it actually feels to cycle in the pissings of rain, then strip off and have a nice shower and get changed.

OP here, phones charging, it's pretty wet outside. Won't go as far as yesterday due to not being able to sit down in shelter anywhere. Alternative route selected.

    see you all soon!

edit- Am I allowed to start a log for stuff like this ? It'll just be me rambling. I went the same way as yesterday, even went a bit further as I knew I'd have the wind behind me on the way home. Yes.. I did get my oranges, even took a picture with them when I got home !

So I was out for a few scoops and got home at 3 AM after a skinfull, unfortunately I had an early morning cycle planned but I knew I wouldnt get up for it so I had a brain wave that Id do my cycle then and go to bed after. suffice to say I sobered up about 40 km from home wondering why I was cycling at 4 in the morning (with no lights either) , I got home for 6 and went to bed then, felt grand after it. no oranges though.
