Fifth Gear did a survey of car washes a few months ago and came to the conclusion that the brush wash is the least damaging to paintwork and the handwash is most damaging. I have used the handwash about 6 times on my new car and the other day I decided to was it at home and discovered loads of small scratches all over the bodywork. Although they are easily removed with a bit of Tcut I would have thought the handwash was the best as I don't trust the rolling brushes either. I think I'll be washing it myself from now on.

What do you mean by handwash, jetwash?

Shampoo, mitt and 2 buckets is by far the best.

    You're going to T cut a new car ?

By the handwash do you mean the thing at service stations with a brush connected to the hose or an actual handwash with sponges etc?

The majority of hand washes will use a sponge or a brush and normally one bucket(which could be full of grit if it isn't emptied between cars). For that reason the only people I let wash my car are myself or Separate from detailer.ie. I would rather drive round with the car dirty than trust it to a car wash!

Swirls and scratches are inevitable, but using a wash mitt and having a good wash process keep them to a minimum.

I dont intend to T cut the whole car just the small scratches, only way I can think of getting rid of them.

Just don't. It's a new car so bring it to someone that knows what they are doing. T-cut dulls down the shine on the area it's used on. It's madness IMO.
