    Khaz won the LAN :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 135 ✭✭freepower

... let me guess, medivacs in your bio control groups? :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 98 ✭✭NighTxX

More like i forgot how to beat banshee hellion until the third game.... so i attempted to blind counter with THOR SEIGE TANK in the third and he went marine tank! QQ :(

(oh and he got the best positions possible for tal'darim while i got the worst so the third ended up being a disaster)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 135 ✭✭freepower

Yeah, terran imba. I mean, flying DTs and mineral only aoe attackers? Wtf blizzard. :P
(oh and he got the best positions possible for tal'darim while i got the worst so the third ended up being a disaster)

ie, he could march to your nat cliff really easily and siege? Or am I missing something even more horrible? :P

Yeah plus he opened up with lots of reapers so he was able to get into my base form all sides very easily

Bleaugh, that's pretty rough man. Still, one series each overall, aye? ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 162 ✭✭Khazidhea

Yeah I could siege the cliff, but I think I did not do that. Got a huge advantage in the start of the game and was trying to finish it, a-moving all the time.

Funky pointed out an interesting thing. We have a tradition of a winner falling in winner's bracket final, then coming back and winning the whole thing :D

^ losers bracket is where all the pros hang out. That's why I like to get there nice and early! ^_^

    who won the monobattle 4v4?

and what were the prizes like?

well done to shiminay for running the show.

**** sake I didn't know Khaz was going or else my money would definitely have been on him. I thought only Night was going :(( How much did you win anyway bro?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 162 ✭✭Khazidhea

Yeah I kinda jumped in in the last second. 50 euro :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,570 ✭✭✭Elmidena

Oi, the name's Elmidena not "Elmidera"...I sound like a cake =o (nor am I Elmidea for that matter....)

Notable efforts in the LAN: Losing every battle like a girl boss
And then redeemed myself by smashing performance in Starjeweled =D

Sickest organizational skills I've ever seen for Monobattles.

Haha so rude Khaz <3. Gzgz and gz to Night for another strong performance and making it to the final this time ;)

Probably the most talked about game at the LAN.
    Epic stuff.
Also great LAN, got further than I thought I would.

My favourite game is attached. Close position spawns imba... :D

Also, seriously, I didn't get any zvt the last two lans. :(

I'm getting way too old for this... :p Figured I'd head home around 4am, but obviously had to stay till the bitter end of the comp to see who won :) Slept most of yesterday and I'm still tired this morning now that I'm back in work :o

Had a great laugh meeting everyone and seeing some great games played (none of them by me of course :p). Also, SC2 players are really nice people who'll go with the flow and not start whinging because they're being expected to be playing competition games or whatever, so give yourselves a pat on the back for being the best bunch of people I've ever had to wrangle whilst running a LAN comp ;)

Need to make a big huge thanks to Deconduo for drawing up the fixtures with me and making sure I didn't make a total balls of the double elimination - many thanks sir. It's also worth throwing out a thank you to the staff in XGC for looking after us and giving up their night.

    GG all!

fair play guys for turning what seemed to be a failure, into a great night for all. shiminay and deconduo (not sure if thats the riht name...), huge props for keeping things rolling, its no easy task to hold the attention of 30 sc2 nerds :)

Really enjoyed the night, was really cool to feel really involved with the sc2 community, and, boards.ie flaming and trolling aside, everyone really got on and had an enjoyable night.

Looking foward to the next lan, hopefully il be able to bring my own pc, and show you guys whos boss :p

its easy enough due to the fact that everyone who goes is very easy going and understands nothing happens without a bit of help.

ill be sorting the next lan very soon, and ill make sure ill be going to that one! damn work..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭godspal

Oh I will be definitely bringing my laptop to the next one.

Upstairs is not as warm! My god, thinking I sweated my own weight. No doubt the people sitting me on the train were not very appreciative of the SC2 flavoured pong.

EDIT: Another complaint about the night. Not enough zerg players! :P

A late reply but I had a great time at the LAN, thanks to Shiminay and decundeo (fairly sure that's wrong) for organizing everything. Glad I got some fun games despite my lack of skill!:D

you mean the week everyone in the country under the age of 20 goes back to school?
not possible to do it last week of august?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,824 ✭✭✭RoyalMarine

it might be the week people go back to school, but its a weekend. i hardly see how that affects anything :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 492 ✭✭UnholyGregor

yeah, playing sc2 for a full night has no effect on peoples bodyclock whatsoever...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,824 ✭✭✭RoyalMarine

its a saturday night. we've held lan's during school/college time before and its never been a problem.
people seem to be able to relax and re-adjust sunday in time for college/school/work without complaint.

Some people just complain for the sake of it, Dunno if I will be going if its on the first weekend, Electric Picnic is on that weekend.

    Are you complaining? Slut.

    this.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,824 ✭✭✭RoyalMarine

as i said for the last lan event, if someone makes a map pool rota then we can use that.
i dont have the time to set out a map pool as i dont really play 1v1's anymore so im out of the regular map pool.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,095 ✭✭✭Columc

Royal depending on the week its on(not the weekend of electric picnic) I can organise the tournament for you and do everything etc to give you time to do other ****

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 492 ✭✭UnholyGregor

    Heres my suggested map pool:

    Shauras plateau
    ICCUP Testbug
    GSL Taldarim altar
    MLG shattered temple
    Abyssal Caverns
    GSL Crevasse

Imo the best maps in sc2 atm
Promote good macro games, but dont necessarily rule out any interesting timings.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,824 ✭✭✭RoyalMarine

surely we need more than 6 maps for a tourney that has so many rounds?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,095 ✭✭✭Columc

remove testbug, add dualsight xel'naga and meta imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,327 ✭✭✭NeoSlicerZ

**** testbug, **** crevasse, **** abyssal and shattered.

Daybreak, Antiga, Metal, Nezarim Crypt. Perhaps dual sight instead of Antiga or Metal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 492 ✭✭UnholyGregor

xelnaga imbalanced in tvz. pf on gold = free win
zerg 3rd = impossible to defend from tanks. that map boils down to a 2base all in.

dual sight might be cool though.

you dont really need more than 6 maps for a map pool imo, i mean, its gonna be a bo5 in the longest game. so even tahn 5 maps is the max number that can be used in any one match.

    Edit:
    Shauras plateau
    ICCUP Testbug
    GSL Taldarim altar
    MLG shattered temple
    Abyssal Caverns
    GSL Crevasse
    GSL Dual Sight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭godspal

    MLG Dual Sight
    MLG Metalopolis
    MLG Shakuras Plateau
    MLG Shattered Temple
    MLG Tal'darim Altar
    MLG Testbug
    MLG Xel'Naga Caverns

Use the map pool from MLG. And UnHolyGregor complaining about Xel'Naga Caverns being imba in Z v T but willing to suggest Dual Sight which is Zerg imba. We all deserve one imba map, you'll only have to play once in a best of five or a best of 3. Well except protoss:
