Beers - 6 August

Just throwing it out there. The summer (supposedly) is here, with a tiny bit of free time to be had and the occasional pride event around the Country. My question, do any boardsies want to meet for a beers.

Now I know a Saturday night is usually the most convient for people, but I'll toss the idea of a Friday out there as I worl on Saturday and Sunday nights.

i would like to go for a few beers with yas but unfortunately i work a lot over the weekends. if you put a poll up and i can't go i can't go. c'est la vie.

Ya that's the thing. I work weekends too. So we'll can let a few others post first, draw a few conclusions then stick up a poll. It may be possible that I might not even make it myself.

I think our pride takes place the following weekend so I wouldn't mind being somewhere else for it (5-7 Aug)

Ya Galway pride is on the 20th of August. I'll be horrid disappointed if I don't get to head down that week for a night.

We could have a beers or some sort of casual chilled out get together in Dublin toward the end of the month, start of next if everyone wants. Or we could all start throwing around some dates when we know we're all free and plan around that.

I'd like a poll as I'm confused and also work weekends so we shall see (but as I'm fairly jammy in general, it'll prolly work out ) but...yes also I like drinking even though I'm a pathetic lightweight now

i thought the seacret was pretty nice. it did get a bit jammers after 9.30 though so if anyone wants space to even stand at a table, get there before then!

longstone inn is also nice - havent been there in a few years. but i remember its cosy and i love the sinks in the toilets - i know..... excited about the sinks!

i dont really know many along the liffey area but the ones ive been in have all been pretty jammers AND loud - i like zanzibar but im told its as loud as the rest.

can we go somewhere that's not as loud? I know I sound like a granny but it would be nice to talk while also getting drunk instead of listening to really loud music and getting drunk pretty much alone, which is what I could do at home anyway. For cheaper. Not that I do drink at home alone or anything. /cough.

How about The Bank on College Green? It's really nice, no music, and they have massive tables you can reserve. Really central too. That or Messers Maguire (again, you can reserve sections of different sizes) would be my suggestions.

The Longstone is really nice though. You've also got Doyles just there by the Screen...

same reason as the last time we went out, I guess. Any newly-born gays (:)) might find it a bit scary to go out to meet a group of gay strangers in a gay bar possibly for the first time ever. Bit daunting, you know? So keep it somewhere neutral.

Another reason is that most Dublin gay bars like to crank up the volume of the music to a ridiculous level - it's easier to talk to people in a quieter pub.

I've been to both and don't see a real difference. Maybe my opinion has been jaded by the fact that last gay I was in, was quiet and relaxed.
