I have an artic licence and also a qualified plumber so I swap between the 2 as the need arises. Being a full time trucker is not an easy life especially if you go to Uk or europe. Yes there is great freedom as long as you don't mind missing out on social occasions while you are sat in a port some where at 1am waiting to get on a ferry. Then you will have to share a cabin with a complete stranger because ferry companies treat drivers like crap as do every one else. You may as well forget about girlfriend as you will never see
her. You will also be expected to keep tachograph correct so you better know the roads to get everything done on time.
Wages are not great especially for someone just starting out to be honest with you I just about clear 600 doing uk and europe this is pretty much at the top end of the scale.
To get your full EC licence my guess is about 3000 from start to finish, so its quite an investment.
Sorry to be so brutally honest and having said all that I was glad to fall back on it when there is no plumbing work to be found. Hope it helps. Best of luck .

What are you delivering with now? a regular van? As regards truck driving, I dont know why anyone would do it with all this cpc crap:rolleyes:.Doing it parttime or not as part of your regular job you would be exempt from doing it.

I'm driving an artic with the last 4 years pulling dangerous chemicals and offloading bulk tankers. 48 hour basic pay is 565 which is 470 after tax. Could do the same job in Canada for nearly double pay.
