4 weeks after I signed on I had an interview and was told I will have to wait for a decision which will take a couple of weeks. Was that interview my means test or will I get means tested if the decision is yes.

    Cheers

Did the interviewer ask to see your bank statements ? Were you asked about any savings you have ?

You submit financial details, personal documentation etc. to the inspectors in the interview. The inspector you were speaking with will conduct a means report and check that everything else is above board and meets the conditions of the scheme (like your level of savings, parents assets if under 25, genuinely seeking work)

All this is forwarded onto a deciding officer who will hopefully sign off and set the up the claim with the appropriate award.

It normally takes about 2 weeks after you interview for a deciding officer to sign off the claim and set up your payment. Anything longer than 3 weeks get on the phone to the local office and nag them (that is if you're lucky enough to get to get through to someone)

You are also very likely to receive a home visit from an inspector.
