I'd like some recommendations for all weather tyres on my rover 75 tourer (215/55/R16v or w according to the manual).Nothing fancy, my driving style has become a bit more relaxed with age.

when you say all weather what exactly do you mean because

Summer Tyres: best for most of the year in any weather condition except snow or ice work best at + 7 degrees
Winter Tyres : best choice for temperatures under 7 degrees and only real option for snow or ice
All season Tyres: very hard to get in ireland , do not excel in any area really, slightly better on snow than summer tyres worse than winter tyres, not as good on normal days , rain dry etc, kind of a Jack of all trades, master of none

a good mid range all rounder tyre brand is Hankook , Kumho, Vredestein

Semperit might suit. I think john banks sells them.

For mine I bought Nokian Entyre, from online shop eiretyres. Nice soft/quiet ride. Not as good as previous vredestein in the wet(but these were terrible in snow) Haven't tested nokian in snow yet, a few months to go I hope for that!!
