    do you have a conscience?

Yes, and I try to do what it tells me, though I rarely agree:pac:

What's the reason for being reasonable?

    Is that an unreasonable question?

I'd love if there was some kind of test people had to pass before being allowed to post on the internet.

Psychopathy/Sociopathy does not exist as a biological condition. There are no biological markers. Where are the lab tests to discern the nuts from the normals? Load of crap tbh.

It never shuts the f**k up. I live in a constant state of guilt.

Yes I have a conscience, but Humanitarian aspects etc... can vary from person to person, One person may think hitting somone is bad, the other he deserved it and hence is unaffected in his conscience.

I think they call it "Catholic guilt".

    Everyone has a flexible conscience.

Most people find stealing, cheating and lying wrong. But when they do it themselves its not as bad, or it wasnt "entirely their fault" (Justifying ones own conscience) which is what I absolutely hate. That others "effected" them and their actions. (I was drunk i didnt mean to cheat, i only lied because ... etc etc)

If what you did in a particular situation can be deemed as "pr*ck-ish" - so be it. Dont justify it to yourself.

And about feeling bad? its all horse-sh*t.
every action we do in life is for our own gain.

That's a bit like asking whether one has a soul. I think we all have what people would call a conscience - which is possibly related to some biologically framed impulse to act in defence of our fellow man, which is essentially herd behaviour.

Presumably, the humans with the most viable offspring were those who carefully protected their offspring. This then led to a profusion of caring parents in their turn, whereas the parents with a lesser predisposition to care might have left their progeny to fend for themselves, and ultimately die, or breed less successfully.

I always find it fascinating how we, as humans, display outrage towards violence which is inversely proportional to the age of a child. For some reason, we consider violence toward a 20 year old to be far less serious than violence toward a twelve year old.
Humans generally treat their progeny with exceptional care and devotion. While some would argue this is 'conscience' and relates to protecting the helpless, I think it is all just a simple biological impulse to nurture that is derived from natural selection.

Of course, in that case, why do i find my boss, a divorced man eater with no observed conscience, so sexually attractive? And why do women swoon over moody men?

Yeah, sometimes I spend ages trying to get bees, moths etc to go out the window rather than splat them

I feel like a prick when I accidentally stand on a snail too.

As for how I treat people? I'm generally a decent guy so I dont do cnutish things

No, I'm too impressionable to have a conscience.

Although just because you test positive wouldn't mean you'd become a killer. Environmental conditions still play a big role.

This article serves no relevance to my statement. Of course Environmental factors play a large part, the killer has to cause death to the victim by manipulating the laws of physics.

Jonathan Brodie, a psychiatrist at New York University testified for the prosecution. "I said the scans are of wonderful technical quality, but so what? They're not relevant here," Brodie says. "Using an fMRI scan done in September of 2009 … to indicate a thought process that was going on in 1983 could hardly be more silly."

"Mental Ilness" is a poorly defined term to add. Yes, we shall lump in the severe depressives with people suffering from fetishism disorder. Dear Lord.
