Am, are ye serious? as far as hybrids go i think this design isn't that bad. the back is a bit iffy....but jesus christ compared to the Honda Insight,Toyota Prius and the electric Nissan Leaf the CT200h is miles better. fair enough they have to make them uber aerodynamic but letting all design go out the window because of that is another reason i would say they're not selling more than they could and should be.

I judge hybrids against the lexus Gs450h. No need for the silly designs. If the hybrid system cannot make the car more efficient through the clever use of regenerated energy & engine off in traffic etc, then its not worth doing.
Why the hippy designs? Main stream cars are designed to be aerodynamically efficient too.

I can't think of a single box it ticks
Maybe if you're in the market for a small automatic premium hatch and do small mileage.
It's front wheel drive. Which ruins it somewat.

If it had a trick diff and loads of power, if it was rwd, If it looked good, if it was fast, If it was actually really economical, if it was unbelievably priced, any one of these things could make it viable. As it stands, its a dressed up auris. And that was pure shoite to start with.

No redeaming features and it looks like it was designed 10 years ago and only made it to production this year.

If they wanted to build this car to sell it in Europe then they should have just put a decent diesel engine in it. But maybe the plan was to get a few Hollywood stars to buy a posher Smug?

Anyone who wants a posher smug already has the hybrid GS, LS, RX and HS to choose from:).

And now, anyone who wants a smug that looks like an ordinary can have the Auris hybrid (the Auris, Corolla, CT and Smug are all from the same chassis, as is the current model Avensis though the Avensis has independent rear suspension, which the others, apart from the Lexus, do not), as it's now on sale in Ireland - only a year and a half after everyone else got it but no matter:)!

Yes but the likes of Cameron D doesn't want to pop down to the shops for a litre of milk in a big barge.

I think he was referring to the current model Insight:

Had one of those as a rental a while back. Liked the idea of a CVT gearbox till I tried it. Would much prefer a manual.

Probably would be a grand car in manual, though looking around it, it's obvious it has been built to a budget.
