I'm after ringing about 100 times today alone, and all i get is the opperator of a mans voice saying ' lines are busy ring back at another time'. I need to know about a second form of photo identifcation but i dont have one, so i want them to tell me what else i can do for this requirement. I got a photo stamped and signed from the gardai and they even agree that this is a total joke. I'm a Irish Citizen and im 18 years of age.

I dont need any extra requirements bar this photo identification for the passport. Does anyone know what i can do?? I really need my passport.

    Thanks in advance

    Didn't think you needed one?

    What documents should be enclosed
    • Complete all sections of the application form correctly and legibly. Don’t forget to enter your signature in the signaturebox on the left hand side of this section.
    • Enclose four recently taken passport photographs .
    • Have the witness section of the application form and two photograph signed and stamped by a Garda Síochána, for applications made in Ireland, or by a member of one of the categories listed on the form for applications made abroad.
    • Photocopy the photograph page of any existing passport being renewed, include with the application form and retain the existing passport
    • Information in respect of applications for first time adults and those who are reporting lost and stolen passports please click here First time adult applicants/Lost and stolen
    • Enclose the appropriate fee.

OP, did you only include one photo with your application? That's the only thing I can imagine being wrong.

Regarding them not answering the phone, they are processing applications, dealing with people in the office. I bet if they were answering the phone all the time we'd get posters on here complaining they couldn't get service at the office because staff were always on the phone.

First time adult applicants/Lost and stolen passports

With a view to preventing identity theft and the circulation of falsified passports, additional safeguards are being iroduced into the passport application procedure for adult first time applicants and for those adults seeking to replace a lost/stolen passport.
    ....
    additional form of photo-identification; e.g. drivers licence, work ID; student card; social club membership; passport from other country etc.;
OK, easy enought to get a driver's licence but you may not want one, how about getting a travel card for Irish Rail or maybe a youth travel card from USIT (office on Oliver Plunket St in Cork).
Personally can't confirm if either of those will give you a photo id card, but something along those lines might be the way to go, as they'd be useful afterwards.

First of all relax, you don't need your passport until mid-August, so take a breath.

Second, as pointed out, get a photo id from Irish Rail, or anywhere else, do you have any Student ID or just get a Garda Age card would be simplest.

Third, include that ID with your 4 photos, 2 signed by Garda 2 unsigned and use Passport Express and you will definitely get the passport by mid-August.

    Fourth, enjoy your holiday.
