Hi, I have an induction in Penneys soon, and I was just wondering if anyone knows what happens, or if they have been to on before? Thanks you.

It will be very identical to a Dunnes one I would imagine. They take hours!

They will photocopy your passport and you probably need a seperate passport photo too. You will also need your bank account details for the payroll. Non-Irish citizens need visa details work permits etc. They will outline rules, and go through the procedure for harassment etc. Also detail rights and entitlements- holidays, sick pay (if any), discount (if any). Your uniform will be gone through and you will probably get it and your name badge. You'll probably have to watch some health and safety videos, and listen to how important prevention of theft is, security arrangements for staff- ie. their right to search you/your locker etc/prosecution of shoplifting staff etc.

We had to watch the correct lifting of a box and demonstrate it, and also answer questions relevant to health and safety. Safety in the stockroom especially. I'm sure that will be outlined somehow.

You'll get a tour of the store and of the employees part, fire exits and communal area for gathering in case of a fire will be pointed out. Canteen, lockers, toilets etc. will all be visited.

That's about all I can think of? I know they're different companies but they're extremely similar in terms of operation- can't see my description being too far off!

Yep this is pretty much accurate they bring you in a full day and go through all that manual handling and filling out bank details etc and going through the employee handbook etc etc and a tour of the building to the stockrooms and then they teach you how to fold...no joke...and they bring you to your department and you work for an hour or two the first day then!! Basically you get paid to sit on your arse for about 6 hours and work for 2!!
