    Hi,

a mate just called wondering what could be wrong with his car.

    Its a 2004, new model, bmw 525D.

The symptoms are a juddering in the rear suspension while he drives. No buckles in the rims and tracking and alignment have been done.

I suspect worn links but couldn't give a better answer

I'm just after having a similar problem with my 2000 323ci.....

I am not sure how the 5 series is set up but if it is similar to the e46 then check the Universal Joint (rubber dounut) between the gear box and the drive shaft. Then also check the carrier bearing half way down the drive shaft and failing that check the rubber bushing that mount the rear diff to the body of the car.

The juddering in my car was caused my a knackered universal joint.

    I hope this helps.

Is it only in the corners? If so it could be a shock. If its there all the time it could be the problem above.

I only had the juddering in 2nd and 3rd between 2,500 rpm and 3,500 and it got worse when cornering....

its simple to check once you have a ramp....
