The "art" of capitalization

In the world of hi-tech gadgetry, I've noticed that more and more people who send text messages and emails have long forgotten the "art" of capitalization.

Those of you who fall into this world, please take note of the statement below. I cannot stress enough how grammar is very important to it.

Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

    Is everybody clear on that?

    Thank you :D

    It's 'capitalisation', Yankee.

It's hardly an "art" now, in fairness.

Personally I prefer capitalisation over capitalization.

So you're admitting that you've had some alcohol ?

First you misspelt "capitalisation", and now "thanked" ?

Why does your fixation not extend to spelling ?

No sign of the quoted post, but again : the word is "realise".

This Yankee spelling crap is even worse than any mis-capitalisation.

Resist, people, before the unwashed take over with their "color" and "favor"!!!

    This will end well....

    Serious post.

I agree to some extent, txting has affected how people communicate and that lack of spelling and correct grammar has crept over to other use, ie handwriting and typing.

But it is a very informal use of communication, and I'm certainly not going to proof read any txt before sending it. As long as it's legable, for both txts I send and receive the odd mistake doesn't bother me.

I'll save my proof reading for formal use.

It's called "texting", and since boards forbids the horrible "txtspk" I am tempted to report your post! :D

    Not Yankee!

When will people realise this? It's known as Oxford spelling.

A panda walks into a café. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and proceeds to fire it at the other patrons. 'Why?' asks the confused, surviving waiter amidst the carnage, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.
'Well, I'm a panda,' he says, at the door. 'Look it up.'
The waiter turns to the relevant entry in the manual and, sure enough, finds an explanation. 'Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves.'

If you look at the section halfway down the page, you'll see

    en-GB : ise
    en-US : ize

That's accurate enough for my book. The Yanks use the "ze", whereas the English use both (to some extent), therefore it's an accurate colloquialism to distinguish between them.

In addition, there is no "yze" in British/European English WHATSOEVER.
