I know this might be a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question.
but roughly how much would it cost to respray a couple of cars?

    MG midget
It has some minor bubbling on the rear wheel arches and a bit on one of the front arches. Also the bonnet got a belt from a pebble so maybe the bonnet as well...ah to hell with it maybe the whole car!

Beetle, some cracks in the paint work so may be filler underneath.

I know the typical answer is "hard to tell, you don't know what nasties you'll find underneath" but I know both cars are very clean and solid.
    So ballpark figure?

Any really good recommendations in the Naas area?

Oh! and the missus needs a respray too!

I am just about to paint my Mustang and this is what I estimate. it all depends on how much metal needs replacing and how good you want the finish on the car.

Small car, little damage, budget materials and not much filling to be done..........€1,500 - €2,000

Small car, lots of metalwork, lots of filler/rubbing, top end materials, show car finish.........€3,500 - €5,000

And if you want it painted black add another €500

OP: You'd probably be better off getting a list of reputable, good painters in a 50-100km radius of your home and then spend a day driving/trailering the cars around to them to get an estimate.

You should also see how much work you can do yourself and any discount you might get for this. If you're handy with a spanner you should be able to take off most of the bolt ons such as mirrors, bumpers, interior and trim, thus potentially saving you a few bob.

Apart from this respraying a car is a skill in itself, and thus quality varies a lot. Its one of the things that I would look for a personal recommendation from someboby else for, and be prepared to pay a few bob extra for a top job.
