    Hi
I bought second hand a Garmin 310XT watch with Premium Heart Rate Monitor Soft Strap, This strap started give incorrect reading after 30mins on runs, e.g. 213bpm, 220bpm.
I read online that the first of these strap were faulty.
My question is can a pair my Garmin 310XT with a Polar heart monitor chest strap (Polar WearLink 31 Coded Transmitter).

I know it's the strap because I replaced the battery, issue still there, I then paired the 310 with the older Garmin chest strap and HR is reading correctly.

    Thanks
    D.

This might be of some interest. I have tried the Garmin transmitter with the Polar strap and it worked well, for a while. I now use an old style Garmin hardstrap.

Short answer no. They are coded differently.

What you can do is take the Garmin transmitter (premium strap only) and use a Polar replacement strap with this. The standard Garmin transmitter is not removable and won't work in this way.

The Polar transmitter and Garmin transmitter are not interchangeable, the straps are.

I hope that makes sense! :)

Garmin released a new premium strap to fix the static problem.

It doesn't work either. Garmin don't do HR very well.

The trick with the polar straps does work but the key is to wash the straps after every use.

my hr strap wont work at all with my 310xt... kinda sucks I need to pay (50/60 quid) for a new strap that wont work just to get transmitter and then use an old polar strap to get HR to work...

The Polar strap has been working well with my Garmin 310, started giving me dodgy readings lately but I replaced the battery and all seems to be well again

so having replaced the battery in the transmitter, I bought out on a polar strap today... the good news is it is now giving a reading.. the bad news is the lowest reading I got was 235.
