I opened a thread about 6 months ago I was looking for an espresso machine and grinder.

After much research I felt I was going to spend 800/900e and then suffer with upgraditits after a few months.

So I decided to wait until I could spend a bit more and hopefully not have to upgrade for a long time.

I have decided to go with Mazzer Super Jolly for the grinder and I'm now looking for a machine to match up with it.

I'm hoping to keep the budget under 1k for the machine but I can go slightly over it for something really nice.

It will mostly be used for making espresso's and cap's

    any recommendations?

Well I've got the Silvia, which is very goo but can't offer advice on anything else... let me know if you have any specific questions ...

    Hi Ntlbell
Might be a good idea to check out some of the machine reviews online. Do you want a HX or a double boiler machine. I have a Izzo Alex Duetto but from checking prices in the UK (shipping to Ireland) it is over budget. I believe it all depends on what you want out of the machine ie number of coffees, steaming ability, ease of use etc. etc. each have pros and cons. Certainly we pay a lot more in Australia for machines but of course they have to get here from Europe :D.
I will probably sell my Alex next year before returning to Ireland and buy again when there. Other than the Alex, the Rocket Giotto Evoluzione is a really attractive machine and has had good reviews but I have no idea on pricing in Europe.
Do lots of research and bear in mind capability of machine if you are going to be catering for a number of milk based coffees at a time.
    Good Luck.

    Thanks Maureen

to be honest I'm getting overwhelmed with the amount of reviews and info was hoping some of the reg's here could point me in the right direction.

A Rancilio Silvia will come in well under budget - and you won't suffer from upgraditis for a long time after the purchase.

Should you be of that nature then you can look forward to temperature surfing, manually adjusting the pressure and maybe installing a PID.

Ill agree with Donnacha here. The 900/1000 bracket is pretty sparse from my own experience in looking for a machine, Ill be going above that when I take the plunge soon, but only because someone decided I deserved a Trifecta and I can sell it on for a nice price :). Prior to that I was Silvia all the way, little beauty of a machine
