This does not apply to me directly.
It says property doesn't count if it is your home. If you are living in a different place, but do not own it and are paying rent, is the property you own considered your home? What if the owned property is in a different country?

So essentially - does "home" mean you only have one property, or does home mean literally you are living there?

AFAIK... if you are working and living in Ireland and you own property outside of Ireland then the capital value of this property less any outstanding mortgage is used as means for a means assessed payment e.g. JSA.

If someone else on the forum is more up to date on means assessments they may be able to clarify this.

Any land or property you own which is not personally occupied by you is assessed for means. So if you own a house, and rent elsewhere, the capital value of the house you own is assessed.
