SWA for postgrad during summer?

Have finished exams and lectures with the thesis still to write. The social welfare legislation provides for students to claim JA if they are actively seeking work (which I am). I applied for JA five weeks ago, supplied all the info required and still no word on payment.

I was thinking of going to the CWO and applying for supplementary welfare allowance but all the information suggests full-time registered students are not eligible. Has any postgrad managed to get SWA whilst writing their thesis?

If your awaiting a job seekers claim you may be entitled to swa. You need to go talk to the CWO. Yes they will not pay full-time students but if your waiting on a payment from SW they sometimes give you something to keep you going that is then deducted from your Jobseekers payment.

    No harm trying I suppose
