    Howdy. Wont name the car, but last year my mum bought an 09 car from a Northern dealer. Got the warranty, has been back for its service, etc etc.

    Recently she noticed that the footwell carpet was wet, we put it down to the wet weather and wet shoes. But then it started occuring in dry weather as well, after some research it suggested it could be a number of things, the heater matrix (something to do with the aircon/blowers i think), seals on the doors, seals under the windscreen, etc etc.

    Took it back to the dealer for a check who said it was the seal on the doors not allowing water to run away correctly, they repaired it, checked it, sent it on its way, said it was fine. The problem has reoccured again, and again, with outcomes including they cant locate the problem, the door seals, even wet shoes (although its happening in dry weather as well). On no ocaasion have they said/agreed its the heater matrix or its connections.

    In all the car has been back 3 or 4 times, at this point we are wondering what she is entitled to. Would doubt she would get her money back, but would she be entitled to a replacement car. I dont mean a curtosy car while hers is being worked on, she had that, but an actually exchange of cars, or what other rights or entitlements does she have.

    Have tried looking at the warranty my self but all it covers is the work they are required to do if any problems and under what conditions. Nothing about if an issue cant be resolved.

    Thanks in advance.

    There are extremely few problems that can't be resolved. If it truly can't be resolved then the car is a write off and I can't imagine a wet footwell being a write off.

    If you are not happy with the dealer and the progress they are making then either bring it to a different dealer or contact the main offices of the manufacturer in Ireland and explain your problem.

    What car is it? People may have come across the fault themselves.

    Its one of the main dealers of the Manufacturer for the area/region, not sure if that makes a difference.

    I would print off every different advice you can find and ask the dealer to verify it is not that!

    Once I had a Skoda in the garage 3 times for a wiper fault... the dealer replaced the stalk twice under warranty - did not fix.. Google told me it was the bonnet switch in 2 mins... dealer then changed that. Was fixed!

    It was actully looking at one of those links where I thought it could have been the door seals/matrix/front winscreen.

    The car is going back to the deelers today. On this occassion though the dealer are collecting the car them selfs, at my mums request, and leaving a curtosy car with her. Rather than her going to them with it.

    Had a similar problem with a Renualt Megane. The common solutions according to various forums were:

    -Pollen filter under the bonnet, under passenger side of windscreen. If the car had been recently serviced and this changed it may not have been set back in snugly;
    -Sunroof drains becoming blocked. Using a wire coat hanger or similar to poke around solved the problem;
    -Drains in the side sills, underneath the doors. These were quite small and check that they are clear;
    -and the seals around the door windows/inside door panel. If these were worn or damaged the water drained through the door and made it's way into the car, possibly a unique design [flaw] by Renault.

    Not sure exactly what my problem was (no sunroof) but checked the filter and door sills and it seemed to sort things out.
