Surely not scripted. It must've been a case of go out and ruffle a few feathers, but it got to a stage where they just had to cut him.

He trashed USA network which was odd maybe he just went a bit overboard. Vince is so morbid I think he wouldn't take offence of the Stephanie & HHH remarks normaly it'd be strange that he'd allow Punk to trash his shortcomings if it's a Work but this is Vince we're talking about.

Sensational promo, and him dumping on his fans was brilliant because it actually made sense, and they knew it, hence them booing him. :pac:

What a promo. That is one that we are all going to be talking about for years to come. ROH must be delighted with the plug.

Fully believe that Vince told him to go out there and say whatever to sell the match. Vince knows what's good for business and that promo alone is going to sell a bucket load of buys for MITB.

they are touring australia/new zealand next week

great promo, completely destroyed the rocks comeback promo that many said was the best for nearly a decade and wouldn't be bettered for years

i now suspect we will see punk and cena in the mainevent of summerslam instead of mitb

I can't believe the WWE broke so many barriers for a storyline. It's so unlike them. They had to have told Punk to go out and do what he did, or else he would've been cut off sooner.

If it was all part of the storyline, then Punk could get the send off he deserves. But maybe he has signed a new contract, and this is all leading up to him winning the WWE title, once the WWE dont F it up

and what made it epic, is that while other shoots can tend to be exaggerated, everything Punk said was completely 100% true.

he is the best.

Cena is not the best, but we're told he's the best.

Vince is being placated by eejits who think WWE is doing as well as it can, when in fact, turning it into a generic entertainment programme is taking business away. he should be a billionaire, not a millionaire.

the two highlights for me:

1) the start, when he told Cena he didn't hate him, that in fact he liked him more than most, but he couldn't stand what he stood for. i think that speaks for every level headed fan in the world, and is the exact struggle I have with the whole Cena issue.

2) when he said, very obviously, 'wrestler'. so obviously, that the crowd even copped on, and it brought them in.

to a lesser extent, his savaging of Steph and HHH was pretty golden too. in particular, calling her idiotic was priceless.

there were a lot of home truths dished out in that promo. and whether it's a work (which i personally think it partly is, as i don't think he'll leave - how stupid would you have to be to get rid of the one character who interests the 'lost' audience of the Attitude Era?!), or not, i really hope, beyond logic, that WWE takes some of it on board - between this week, and last week's joking by Punk about his win/loss record meaning something, the man has what is wrong with the business down to a tee.

and i like how he appealed to Vince's wallet - that he's a millionaire, successful, but is not as successful as he could be if he just copped on. that's one angle that Vince may listen to, or if this is a complete work, he may have already listened to.

anyway, all hail Punk!

I can see him leaving for a break but not leaving permanently. Perhaps winning the title at MITB, only for it to be regained by the MITB winner - possibly egged on by VM - so the title stays in the business.

But to be fair, even if he leaves without the title (in my opinion he won't walk out July 17th with the title, but I hope I'm wrong) that was one hell of send off and ties in with his tweets about going out with a bang.

They couldn't possibly release him having let him cut such a controversial promo, he'll probably take a bit off after MITB and come back.
