    Hello,

Id like to stay in one of the Travelodges in Dublin for a couple of days. So far, Ive narrowed it down to 3 Travelodges: Travelodge Dublin South, Travelodge Phoenix Park, and Travelodge Swords. Never been to any of them, so I really dont know which is the best (as in the area, rooms, etc. Just need a double room for me and my partner).

I realise its a budget hotel so I dont expect anything fancy. I just need to be sure that the area is safe enough for my car parked in the Travelodge area, room is clean and tidy, not too close to main roads so I can have a decent sleep, there are buses from/to city centre, easy transport as we'd like to use public transport to explore.

Please share your opinion and experience on those Travelodges. The doos, donts even tips are very much appreciated, thank you :D

The one in Rathmines is closer to the City, if you have any business or reason to commute there then this would be handiest. The one in Swords is on the side of a busy road halfway between Airside retail park and Swords Village. The "Phoenix Park" one is at the M50 Blanch junction, nothing of interest within walking distance but if you have a car the Blanch Centre isn't far.

Depends what you're looking for I guess, but for a stay in Dublin I would not be quick to recommend any of them tbh, their locations are pretty weird.

hi Savman, thx for the reply.

Yes I had a look that Rathmines is closer to city but they're overpriced for me, thats why Im only considering the other 3. Im only going to have a short break.

I will most probably drive to Dublin, but prefer to explore Dublin with public transports/ DARTS, so if there are buses from Travelodge to city centre, thatd be great.

Can you pls elaborate about their locations being pretty weird? weird as in far from anywhere or unsafe or?

    thanks

i have only stayed in one of those 3 mentioned, so i can only comment on that, travelodge swords, on the airport road, there is a bus stop next to the hotel (coming from dublin you have to cross the dual-carriageway), its within easy walking distance of swords town centre, its got a decent restaurant on site and the rooms are your normal basic travelodge fare, i stay there when i have an early morning flight, dublin bus takes about 45 minutes into town (nos 41)

I just can't see the logic in staying so far out of the City if it's the City you intend to see. Free parking is about the only reason I can think of why anyone would want to use either hotel, unless you're using the Airport in which case Swords is grand.

Commuting in and out of town on public transport is not impossible, just a serious drag IMHO.

I suppose if you are on a tight budget and don't mind the inconvenience, fire away, all I'm saying is neither would be my first choice due to where they are situated. There is nothing of interest in Airside Retail park unless you are shopping and the Castleknock one is not near anything except a massive motorway intersection.

If I had to choose I think I'd go with Rathmines and just swallow the parking cost of having to bring a car.

id have gone with Rathmines if they do same price as the other 3, unfortunately Rathmines is double the price, obviously with it being close to city. im on a budget yes, thats y im going with Travelodge instead of Four Seasons :(

Ill have a closer look again of where & how those 3 r situated and considering your input.

    Thanks

what is your budget? i would have thought with all the deals going on for hotels at the moment that you'd find somewhere nearer to town than
    the travelodges you've mentioned.

Mates of mine stayed here and got a great deal, it has parking too.

    They said it was fine.

Hi, I stay with Travelodge all the time when I'm in Dublin. If your looking for a no-frills clean, safe room at a reasonable price then you can't go wrong.

The Travelodge Swords is very handy with plenty of parking, the bus into town is around the corner (2.20e pp) and a taxi back would be around the 20e mark if your out at night.

I've often got a room there for 19e and three of us have stayed and had a great night out in Dublin. Great value if you book far enough in advance.

Didn't realise you could get rooms that cheap, suppose you'd need to add up the likelihood of having to get Taxis into the equation and bus costs too.

    hi boogeyman,

I booked in Travelodge Ballymun, also purchased breakfast, so hope I get a good experience both with room and breakfast.

    thanks :)
