what is it with the druggies\scumbags around Dublin (especially around tara station and surrounding streets) and their canes\walking sticks??

Is it a necessity from the drug\alcohol abuse or some kind of social welfare scam? If it is because of a scam they are all pulling I'd love to grab it off them and hop the thing off their f**in' heads

GOD! I HATE these parasites - and a lot of the time they are pushing around a buggy with a lovely little child and it makes me sad to thing what kind of life they have in front of them...

It's so they can walk and put pressure on one side of the body in hope of it providing a nicely popped vein for them to inject their junk into.

The people you are giving out about were once a child in the exact same situation as the children you feel sad for.

Yeah, thats what makes it so sad....especially because my daughter is a toddler just like them. I guess its just luck what family\parents you are born into really.

What an odd thing, I've never seen this phenomenom.

Might it be a fashion thing? I've some of those "gansta rappas" with canes, maybe they're copying them?
Were they using them like they actually needed them or holding them with a bit of swagger?

Exactly. I hate seeing them too. But most of them had very little chance of living any other sort of a life. It's a horrible existence and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.

Anyway, on topic, I've never seen this cane/walking stick thing of which you speak!

    Wow..

You could cut the preconscious stereotyping in this thread with a knife.
Your post seems to convey some serious social tolerance issues OP.

Have you ever considered that you could be prejudice against an entire social class of people?

I'm in complete agreement that there are absolute scum out there that are doing nothing but wasting their lives, damaging others and being a drain on resources.

But how about just for arguments sake we don't tar everyone with the same brush?
    :)

So are they scum or do you feel sorry for them. I'm confused about how you view these people.

Many addicts have painful abscesses on their legs and feet from improperly or un-hygenically injecting themselves.

    Hilarious stuff altogether.

That's why (imo) we should really focus on the primary school years to catch kids and try to work with them before they develop problems

I reckon we should redirect the money spent in the Ivory towers of 3rd level education and plough the money into primary school and expert services for children.

Oh I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood.. I thought you were being completely discriminatory to the point of inflicting physical violence based on nothing but appearance and your own social hatreds..

Wait.. Actually.. That sounds EXACTLY like what you just described.

The walking stick/cane is nothing new, have seen a good few of them over the years in Dublin with them around that spar at the top of Talbot st(?) and around Dunnes etc onto O'Connell st, they use them because (as someone already said) they have shot one too many dirty needles into their vains in their legs so need a walking stick/cane to help them walk while they shoot up in the other leg until both legs have to be removed.

I have a feeling this started more so (to look like a junkie pimp lol) in Limerick for some reason but dont quote me on that.

jesus - I have to say, boards seems to be getting very top of people who seem to just jump into a thread to say something for the sake of it.

Wazdakka, if that is your real name...what social class of people exactly did I "tar"? I can only presume you are referring to the small section of lower class citizens who wear tracksuits and use canes?

I was once forced to wear tracksuit bottoms as it was too painful to put on jeans and needed a cane to walk after I saved a puppy orphanage from burning to the ground.

Don't judge people based on appearances.

    That never happened.

    Agreed..
I think it's as bad with all the soapbox threads recently though.
It seems like all to often that somebody will start a thread for no other reason except to have a bitch about something that they dislike.
Even when the opinion is completely ignorant, ill informed, and idiotic to the point of embarrassing themselves.

I'm not really in the mood to quote you your own posts..
But seriously.. You seem to have a bit of a short fuse "splashthecash"..
All I said is that maybe it's not right to tar every single person of a certain look as having the exact same negative stereotypical attributes.

    U mad?
I honestly think that you need to take the internet less seriously.

Listen Wadakka, if I can't vent on boards after a long day's work...what's the point of it all?

And as well as venting, every now and then you get someone who takes the bait and makes the whole experience even more enjoyable!

In fairness I dont think he really was stereotyping junkies by a certain look by tracksuits etc, i for one hate stereotyping its a pet hate.

But lets be honest a junkie regardless of what there wearing is fairly obvious to spot, its there walk, talk glazed over look that gives it away they could be wearing a suit with that cane but youd still know there a junkie with one quick glance.

Hes was just wondering what the deal was with them walking with canes and saying how awful it is to see junkies pushing prams with young children in them, which regardless of your viepoint on junkies is a heartbreaking and terrible sad thing to see not a great start in life now is it, the kids going to need a lot of luck and determination to grow up on the right side of the tracks.

If you're tarring junkies with the brush of scumbaggery, then get me a brush, a bucket, some tar and a fire and I'll join you.

Their circumstances aren't my fault and they shouldn't be my problem. They made the decision to start injecting heroin. Everyone knows what that stuff does. Everyone knows where junkies end up.

They gave up on life and decided that instead, they'd spend the rest of their time on earth getting comatose between begging sessions and theft from those of us who work whilst all the time whingeing in that drawn out way of theirs about how hard and unfair life is.

I think scum is a rather mild term when applied to junkies. I prefer diseased parasite myself.

why would i claim it if it wasn't true?? if you look in the limerick forum, and search for the pimp cane thread, it's there, posted by him, then you can see that he's one of my friends on here. i was with him when he took it, we were walking up cruises street... what you see around the internet is a demotivational version of it. but that was the original. I don't know what more to say. but then i don't really care.

I seen a druggie with a walking stick and he was unscrewing a part of it as he had drugs he was selling stached inside.

How come the garda dont have him locked up i bet i could go in to dublin now and find the bloke he is all ways around the same area with his walking stick

you can buy canes with concealed weapons, solid ones are weapons themselves , you can conceal drugs in them and theyre not illegal to walk round with, a win win for junkies and drug pushers alike

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,176 ✭✭✭diceyreilly

What ever they are shooting into their legs is obviously f****g them up. I often see them in wheelchairs or hopping around on one leg and the thickset still using drugs after paying a very high price.

How would they be able to look dapper without a walking stick.
