Conventional 700c tyres and tubes on Stans 29er tubeless rims?

29er is 700c so I would presume any 700c tyre would fit given the obvious rim width/tyre width considerations.

I think the tubeless refers to the sealed nature of the rim (spokes don't protrude etc).

Ah right, I just watched a video on tubeless rim prep, and the Stans rims require special yellow tape over the eyelets to make them airtight.

So the build for these rims ought to be just like with normal (non-tubeless) rims.

I guess my other uncertainty is whether there are any differences in the bead seat that would cause problems with normal tyres.

The tyres should fit the rims just fine. Wouldn't bother with the tubes. It should be possible to run them tubeless too (not at max tyre pressure) - the Stans system is designed to be used with regular tyres. Bit of yellow tape, a valve and away you go.

If you're happy about the sizing, you're good to go on these rims with tubes and tyres.

I'm working on the theory that more air volume is better, and as long as the internal rim width is less than the width of the tyre then all will be good handling-wise, at least on hard surfaces.
