So... I have got a job interview coming up next week and am pondering whether to say I have the dentists before hand or just ring in sick in the morning of it...

What are your thoughts?

Are you talking about how to get time off from your current job to go to the interview or making an excuse to skip it?

This is much more acceptable than if you were a dole sipping miscreant who was just too lazy to go, and stay suckling off the family teat for a couple of more years.

Unfortunately I know a few people like this, so forgive my jumping to conclusions.

I can't believe you started a thread on this but since you have I would suggest you say you have a doctors appointment and that you need a few hours off. Work up the time between now & then.

Have the interview at the dentists. That way you save time
by getting both out of the way.

With the time saved make yourself a cup of tea or
coffee and pat yourself on the back for a job well done
(or not depending on the interviewers point of view on being dragged to your dentist.)

If you have a job currently but you have an interview next week at another place, don't call in sick to go to it. Reschedule the interview ffs. Neither usually mind and you look better from it. You can even say that that particular day is forecasted to be pretty busy and they need you. They'll understand.

If you don't have a job and you're trying to bunk off this interview - serious facepalm!
