Hi I heard as a single father i can claim tax credits as my baby stays with my fairly often. Doe anyone know the criteria for this and is there a minimum number of days the baby must stay with you before you can avail of these credits? Thanks

There is no minimum condition you just need a dependent child resident with you overnight for all or part of the tax year.

If you qualify for a married tax credit or live with someone as husband and wife you won't qualify.

The tax credit is fixed - irrespective of the number of children.

The tax credit is not apportioned between claimants. Each parent receives the full tax credit once the child resides with both parents for at least part of the relevant tax year.
