02 Seat Leon - Diagnosis / Excess of Pollution warning light

    Hey Guys,

Hopefully you may be able to help me.

I have a 02 Seat Leon and a few minutes ago when I was heading out in the car the Diagnosis / Excess of pollution light came on (flashing) and the car started shuddering a small bit. I pulled into a carpark straight away and turned off the car. I got out the manual and check what the light ment and then started the car (warning light came on but did not flash) and returned home which is 5 min away.

The exhaust has recently started rattling and there is a "boy racer" sound coming from it. I was actually on the way to get the exhaust replaced when this happened.

I have done a quick bit of googling and there seems to be a few things that can cause this light to come on. There are people mentioning Coils / the Cat / Lameda sensor etc....

I am completely lost when it comes to all this craic and would appreciate any advise before I call the garrage and try and get this fixed (whatever it is)

    Thanks in advance.

    Mitch

    Hi Mitch

I came across your message after a google search as exactly the same thing has happened to my 02 Seat Leon. Please let me know what happened to yours... I am taking mine to a Seat garage on Wednesday.

    many thanks,

    Vanessa

why are you taking a 10 year old car to a main dealer. a good independant mechanic will be a lot cheaper..

best thing to do is get someone with vcds software to scan the car for you to see what faults show up
