    Hi all,

At the risk of jinking the nice weather so far this week can anyone recommend where i could purchase the above at a decent price. I was on evan cycles a while ago and there was a pair of altura shorts for 70. I cant really justify(or afford) that sort of money.

    Thanks

As a general rule you don't need waterproof shorts and are better off with plain Lycra which will dry out quickly. Concentrate on keeping your top half and shoes dry (shoe covers/waterproof socks.)

The very best way to waterprrof your legs is some form of embrocation or linament.

A cheap solution is deep heat and vaseline. As guys said. Keep you feet dry as possible.
    Buy knee warmers.
Buy a breathable rain cape - for long cycles. If its short commuting then a good waterproof - not as essential that it is breathable.

Is that not a bit mad, Ted?

Keeping three-quarters of your legs dry and letting the rest get wet?

I generally find that if my feet and tootsies are warm and dry I can put up with just about anything, especially if the upper body is also warm and dry. Hip to ankle tends to look after itself.

At the risk of incurring someone's wrath, I know Half-fords do waterproof baggy shorts - think they're about 30 euros. Not sure what the performance is like or how they rate in terms of breathability and wind- proofedness.

The issue is not so much the legs, it's the arse. Waterproof shorts keep your arse completely dry. As do mudguards.

I occasionally use those shorts for commuting, in the winter if the rain is consistently very heavy. It saves having to put on soggy shorts at the end of the day.

Get a pair of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-CS95-GORE-TEX-Desert-DPM-Trousers-SALE-/220803426392?pt=UK_Men_s_Trousers&var=&hash=item7914ce6d54

    ...and a scissors..

They're very light and as waterproof and breathable as some of my goretex XCR stuff.

    I can sell you these
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-wickham-event-waterproof-shorts

    Size Large
The sizing is off, would probably suit someone 30"-32" waist.
    I am 34"
    €40.
Tried on once when I bought them and once again when I lost some weight.
Only selling in Dublin as I would like the buyer to be able to try them on first.

I have two dhb Event jackets and they are top notch.
