PAWS Animal rescue: What's the deal?

I know a fella who does a fair bit of chugging for these lads and is handsomely rewarded for it. I dont see them looking for people to adopt pets or anything. In fact all I have seen of that company is that they're looking for money.

Like most animal rescue places (if these lads are legit anyway) I presume they kill off the animal if nobody has wanted to adopt them for 6 months, yet they are extremely fussy and choosy about who they give a pet to

Its probably very hard to find people who will do charity collecting without commanding a healthy slice for themselves .

this is the society we live in

Your research and resulting facts are overwhelming.

Do a bit of research before you denigrate a charity.

What have you done to help animals?

All I know is they're not an actual charity.

I picked a cat or 3 off the road in my day. Although one swiftly got booted out of the car after going on a piss blasting session

Not nearly as hard as you might think, actually. People would surprise you.
This is reason no. 47 that chuggers are scum of the earth; they make people suspicious of genuine volunteers and more reluctant to give to charities generally.

Are they a charity? Looking at their website they don't appear to be, I would be interested to know if they are.

Right firstly PAWS don't collect money themselves.

There are a couple Of companies operating in Ireland that provide chugging services for charities. Normally these charities don't approach these companies rather they approach the charities and tell them they can collect for them and save them administration costs etc. These companies take a slice of what's donated, the chuggers take a slice and the charities get a slice.

If you really want to help a charity like PAWS don't donate money, adopt an animal from the pound.

I love the way people go on about how much they want to help charities and such but then bitch about chuggers. Chuggers get the job done and make a fortune for the charities involved. They get paid because its hard work and its on commission (its **** money btw). The more money they make for charity, the more they get for themselves. Its a job. Welcome to reality.

FYP and I can't imagine too many people falling for the chugging scam.

I don't go on about wanting to help charities. I already done my bit and chugging is an unethical annoying scam in my book

Have you ever worked as a chugger? The hours are massive and unless you're really good you get paid nothing. Normally the percentage you get is roughly 20-30%, a ticket is 6 euro, so you could end up working all day for about 15 euro or so. In fact most places you don't get paid for the first few days, everyone quits before that so in effect its all free labour. The percentage you get is really small and the work is really hard. I could tell you some real horror stories from my friend who did it all last summer.

No, its right up there with telemarketing and clamping. If you're down to having to apply for those jobs you're better off on the dole because you'll do less damage to society

The people who apply are teenagers in 5th and 6th year. Those terrible, terrible people.

So its not just this charity that you have an unfounded issue with?

    You are moving onto chuggers?

Justify your original post again,if you wouldnt mind.

i use to chug and it was great fun and the satisfaction i got knowing i was helping some poor African made it worthwhile, also some people need to hear about the great work the charity does in order to sign up.

the people who say they'd sign up if it wasn't for the chuggers are just lying and would never give to charity cause they're mean.

as for the pittance chuggers make. if it wasn't for them the charity wouldnt make as much money so its only fair they make something to survive on.

    Hi Needler,

First off, AHs is not the place for your thread.:)

We have a forum called Animals & Pet Issues, try there.

But do Pm the mods first to be sure your thread is alright with them, you will find their names at the bottom of the main page, on the right hand side.
