If you could buy a state of the art "massless energy field wheel" would you do it? if so how do you think it might ride?

    Depends.

    Is this about gyroscopic forces?

    unpossible

    Is the freehub compog-compatible?

yes. The point is that angular momentum is what allows you to even ride the bike in a fashion that does not resemble tight rope walking. Without any angular momentum you may find riding the bike pretty tricky.

    Yes.

I know that when I tried to demonstrate no-hands to the kids at 5kph I crashed very painfully.

    Would it be like Tron?

If I crossed the path of another rider who I didn't like, would they explode?

No the wheels are not weaponized.

Unfortunately, whilst it is easy to create a wheel with zero angular momentum, creating one with zero moment of inertia is a bit trickier.

I think it's more like when matter meets anti-matter - you'll both explode and take the rest of us with you. Nice way to be remembered though - the guy who blew up the universe ...

But if you could buy a wheel that was massless then it would have no moment of inertia.
So would you buy a set of the "massless energy field wheels" if they where available? special offer 250 dollars each, 400 for the set. If that doesn't suit you would you buy a pair of wheels made from the rare element "unobtainium" that weighed only 25grams but were just as stiff and strong as anything on the market.

    Wouldn't matter.

Yeah I read that article in science pretty interesting. I still don't think I'm going to put a reverse fly wheel on my to cancel the angular momentum to zero and expect to have an smooth ride, its still going to make it a a lot more difficult.
