Ok so Friday the 1st is looming ever closer and I don't know what I want to do in College so I decided to see if anyone here could help me make up my mind :)
I would be considering going to UCC, UL or Trinity really.
I did English, Irish, French, Physics, Chemistry, Accounting, Economics at Higher Level and Maths at Ordinary.
I'm considering teaching either the sciences or the businesses at second level but I'm not sure :/
Say if I studied commerce at UCC, how would I go about teaching at a secondary school then?
I've considered Primary Teaching but I'm not too gone on it.
I don't know if I should just do Arts but I know of soo many people that absolutely hate it!
Not interested in any nursing or healthcare stuff.

In UCC, the courses I've picked out are Arts, Commerce, BIS, Commerce with French/Irish, Chemical Sciences.
    Trinity - Science
UL - Business Studies, Pharmaceutical and Industrial Chemistry, Science with concurrent Teacher Education (Physics and Chem).

I'm just really worried that I'll end up hating the course I do.
Any suggestions/Ideas would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks :D

if you like science and you like teaching go and do simple science course and then ... as post grad science communication in dcu

or straight go for science education eg in dcu

Well, I would recommend not going for a teaching specific course, la a what can be found in DCU and UL. Rather go for a general science degree and if you still want to be a teacher after the four years do the H. Dip (well it is called PGCE now). This is what you'll do to each business also.

When I was filling out my CAO all those years ago, I wanted to become a science teacher but decided against doing the science teaching courses offered in the event I changed my mind. I did and now am going into research!

Also, don't forget UCD! (Shameless plug for my alma mater!)

Before you do anything, ask yourself these very simple questions:

What do I enjoy doing with my time?

    What makes me happy?

Let these be the biggest indicators as to what you'd like to do with YOUR life.

Ok! so you don't have a clue what to do.... Guess what! It doesn't matter! :D

Most people think the course they pick determines their life well it doesn't. Not in undergrad anyway. My advice is pick a course you want to do. I know people who studied english and then went on to do law. You obviously can't go into medicine like that but if you pick a course somewhat suited to the industry you think you will like it should be fine. What you do is really determined by your post grad degree.

So for example, Want to be in the financial industry? Marketing? Sales?but not sure which obviously you pick commerce as a good base....

Want to enter the science career track? but more specifically chemistry? then do a course somewhat related and specialise later...

Do you really want to be a teacher or is this just the result of not finding out what you really want? Do a few free career tests to see which jobs best suit your personality.

Pick a course you will enjoy because if you don't like it you will drop out and I don't mean knowing everything about the course to enjoy it... None of us know what we are going into but I know I hate science so I won't do a science degree and I would prefer to enter the world of business so I am doing finance as I enjoy watching financial news. Think of the course in terms of how you spend your time.

    Good Luck :)
