Recieved letter in regards to my application for a plc

Hey all. I applied for Multimedia in WCFE back at the start of this year. I did the interview and all was well, they said they would contact me around July.

Last week I received a letter from the collage that said.
Further to your recent interview for admission on the above course in the WCFE. I wish to inform you that you are on the Waiting List, you will be contacted should a place arise on the course.
What I want to know is, does this mean that they have already given out the main places on the course and I didn't get a place, but they will contact me if someone drops out or another space arises?

Or does it mean that I have been selected as a likely candidate for a place on the course?

It's just a bit confusing is all.

The course is probably full and you are on a waiting list but best bet would be to contact the college and ask them to clarify or check out their website.

What Further Ed has said is correct. If some people do not take up their offered place, people on the waiting list will be contacted.

It's a lot more positive than it sounds. In our centre, a lot of students apply for our courses as a "plan B". When the Leaving Cert results come out, some do better than expected and do not take their place, freeing one up for someone else. Others decide to repeat or do another course they might have applied for. You will probably know more after the LC resuts.

Sorry about dragging up an old thread but my wife just got a similar letter and we were wondering how many people would be put on the waiting list. Would everybody get a similar letter or is it a short list?
