Possible Carzone Scam?

Hi all, just wondering what we all make of this. Think its a possible scam myself.

    I'm selling car here.

I got an email from a girl called 'Brenda' asking me how much I would accept for it. I replied stating I wanted the full amount.

She then says is a marine engineer off shore and she wants to buy for her son. She wants to pay me by pay pal and an 'agent' will collect the car when the payment is sorted.

Sounds to me like a variation on old, we'll pay u 10K over the price and u send of back that 10K and in the mean time, the cheque bounces and you're out of pocket and minus a car.

    Thoughts???

It's part of the process when placing an ad on Carzone..ignore.

Scam, nearly every week a thread comes up here with someone who has had interest in buying a car with pay-pal and shipping agents.

Sounds like a scam alright. Worth checking out what protection Pay pal offers.
Very nice Motor BTW, what are you replacing it with?

    Thanks for the help, chaps.

Was 90% sure but just wanted to check it out.

Not sure Twin-go. I love it to bits and when I look at the pics I think to myself that I really don't want to sell it at all. Alas, the repayments are costing me over 450 a month and I just started a new job where i bus into town mon to fri and it's just too much money to pay out for a car that I use about 10 times a month now.

Will hopefully replace with something similar or maybe an Alfa GT

I'd recomend the GT. I had a 1.6TS 147 (01) and loved it too. I sold it as it was getting to an age where it was starting to cost me more than I could afford. Got a 07 GT a few weeks back and its fantastic.

Of course it's a scam unless the buyer is a real numskull, as only an idiot would agree to buy a car they haven't test drove or seen and then pay the full asking price.

    Yes, it is a scam.

We have to keep it to 3 stickies or less, and no one had posted in the Scam thread in ages, so I de-stickied it.

Since then, we've been getting probably close to a thread a day...

After Max Damage's memorial is over I'll re-sticky it.
