satellite signal through glass ?

    Hi Folks,..any know if it's possible to pickup astra at 28.2 east through glass ? it's a double glazed roof/velux window at a angle of 45deg & it's facing 22deg east,..any advise welcome,...thanks

    Depends if K glass or not (coated glass can block signal). The dish elevation is about 22 and azimuth about 137 degrees, if glass/dish angle too much there is too much loss.

    Vertically you are maybe OK.

    Horizontally, 22 E, is like almost North, North East exactly (North East is 45 degrees, East 90), Dubious if dish can even "see" 137 degrees (almost perfectly South East = 135 degrees)

    So very unlikely.

    Watty is probably correct but here's a pic of how one would be set up,the glass in the window was replaced with plastic as double glazing causes problems with signal especially during rain.

    apartment managment company don't allow dishes,..as it's the top floor & not overlooked either side I might put a small dish on the balcony camoflaghed with a few Strategically placed potted plants,..
