    Hi there.

I'm planning on travelling to Barcelona at the beginning of August for a few days and was wondering, how quiet it is during this time? Specifically, how many of the places are actually closed?
I read it is the most common time for places to be closed while owners go on holiday.

I'm just back from Barcelona! It's fabulous, you'll have a ball! Can't imagine that places would close as there are loads of tourists around. I was actually surprised at the amount of families who seem to be there on a family holiday. But then you have the best of both worlds - beach and city :D

    Hi

Glad you had a great time. I have my hotel picked out. I'm just having trouble getting decent prices on flights. Working out pretty expensive at the moment.

Just a word of caution make sure you choose the correct airport to fly into. Ryanair list reus and girona as barcelon reus, and barcelona girona both are a fair distance from Barcelona its self approx one and a half to two hours drive.
To the best of my knowledge its the most common place to be closed due to the heat at that time of years app locals go to cooler areas of spain at that time!

Im planning on flying into El Prat. Its 20 mins on the train into the station, and the hotel we have picked out is across from the station.

Anyone have any restaurant and bar recommendations ??

I'd recommend Attic on La Rambla - it's on the left as you head down towards the Columbus monument. You go upstairs to it and it has a lovely outside terrace which is really nice for ppl watching. Food is lovely too. I had the paella - it was divine! So nice in fact, that I'm going to attempt making it this weekend for dinner! The prices weren't too bad either. It was 70euro for two ppl, 3 courses each, bottle of wine & two bottles of water. Not bad considering the location!

We also had dinner one night in Plaza Real at this Italian/Brasserie place - Rossini. They have two sides to their restaurant, pizzeria and brasserie. We ate in the Brasserie and it was lovely. The pizza part was doing a great trade too. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187497-d1082035-Reviews-Rossini-Barcelona_Catalonia.html

There's loads of restaurants in Plaza Real and it has a really nice atmosphere too! Enjoy! :D

www.skyscanner.ie is a useful site if you are looking for cheap flights. But as somebody said above, be aware that Ryanair don't fly that near Barcelona!
