Hi all, I'm heading off on holidays soon and want to get a bag suitable for my Nikon D3000 + accessories, but can also hold a bottle of water, towel, book, ipod etc. Any suggestions?

I would suggest that you don't put a bottle of water in your camera bag.
Even if you use a stainless steel bottle with a double-sealed cap, Murphy's
Law say the water will escape and find it's way into your Nikon.

Remember when we used to carry bottles of water or milk in
our school bags? The end result was always a bag full of
    soggy books.

Have a look in the camera shops to see what kind of bag would
suit your needs. Shoulder bag or rucksack? Will it need to be
weatherproof? Will it need a strap for holding a tripod?

I use a Swordfish shoulder camera/camcorder bag that cost
about €20 in PC World. It can carry my DSLR and a couple
of lenses. I can just about squeeze in a flash as well. It has
a few pockets for batteries, filters memory cards etc....

    Thanks for the reply,

I think I'll head up to the big smoke and check out the camera shops, hopefully I'll find something suitable.

i dont know if its very padded but the lowepro passport sling looks good.

i have a crumpler bag which i think is ok ish,http://www.crumpler.eu/index.cfm?seite=photo&sprache=EN&productID=7021 but you wouldnt fit a bottle of water etc in it, and for some reason i cant get comfortable with it , the strap and fabric is very stiff and i find it awkward getting the camera in and out.theres no doubting the quality tho, i prob shudve gone ofr a backpack style instead.

i got it in the camera shop on grafton street for 50 quid, conns had a good range of bags when i was in as well, but more expensive. id say for holidays a backpack would be better, harvey normans had a load ranging from around €60 -150
