Quarantine 2: The Terminal

    IMDB

So I just finished watching Quarantine 2: The Terminal, which is the sequel to the American remake of the amazing Spanish horror [REC]. Now, it's been said by many people that the original Spanish version was superior to the American version.

Recently enough, I watched [REC]2 and was extremely disappointed by it -
the reveal that the infection was caused by demons somewhat took away from the impact of the first movie
. So I didn't have high hopes for Quarantine 2, but I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by it.

There were some relatively decent scares and moments of tension
honourable mention goes to the closing half, which features a great nightvision camera sequence

The action takes place outside of the apartment building, which was [REC]2's downfall, I feel. This time it's in an airport terminal, which has been placed under quarantine.
Any mention of religion is removed and it is revealed that the infection was caused by a terrorist organization, which is far more plausible

    Anyone else see it?

It's already getting hard to keep track of the remakes and sequels in this franchise :pac: A sequel to a remake of an original that isn't a remake of the original sequel? Garr :pac:

But yeah I'd agree Rec2 was a disappointment - more of the same really. Would consider checking this out at some point, although have firmly refused to watch the first on the basis of its redundancy

Most definitely check it out! They completely moved away from what basically made [REC]2 a shambles!

    [REC] > Quarantine
    Quarantine 2 > [REC]2.

Strange how that worked out, eh?

More of the same would have been awesome, instead we got some awful bastard child of The Exorcist and [REC] :pac:

I'll check this out, hadn't even realised it was released.

I was just reading more into it there - apparently Sony only released it in less than a dozen screens across America before it gets sent straight to DVD.

I didn't mind the demonic possession elements of Rec2. What did bug the hell out of me was the pointless introduction (and unexplained subsequent disappearance) of a bunch of Scooby Doo kids.

It is quite cheap, alright. But it didn't actually take anything away from it.

Don't get me wrong, it's nowhere near as good as [REC], or even that great a movie, but it was enjoyable enough, definitely a lot better than [REC]2.

I get what ya mean, Galvasean, those kids were just absolutely random. They should have just stuck with the soldiers.
