    hi guy's.

the turbo blew in our 320d today - lost power, whining noise, although that cleared as we limped home.
can anyone advise on where to get the turbo done other than the stealers - she's an 06 out of warranty with 90k kms on the clock.

    dublin area pls.

    thanks
    twinkleT

Cannot recommend a place but inspect the breather filter, this is a major cause of the turbo blowing on those engines. The breather filter looks like lou roll and gets totally blocked over time starving the turbo of oil. It is recommended that it be changed every second service though BMW don't do it. BMW also introduced a modified breather filter which is a vortex shape which doesn't suffer the same issues.

OP, if the car has a full BMW service history I would talk to your BMW dealer about getting some goodwill towards the costs from BMW. You may only have to cover the cost of the labour. There is a similar thread here about a 520d, worth a read. Worth a shot and the worst they can do is say no.

The turbos seem to be a nightmare on these BMWs from what I'm hearing. I was thinking of selling my car next year and and buying a 320d coupe like this one below(in blue) or the model after that one, but I don't want a turbo blowing after 90,000 miles or kilometres for that matter.

Give Courtney Motors on the North Strand a ring. He's been working on Beemers for donkey's years now and they know them inside out.
Mods, I assume if it's ok to post their number here?
